Welcome to Good Shout! A shout out series calling out great cafes and coffee experiences.
This good shout comes from TMR’s European Correspondent, Matty S.

On a typically hectic Tuesday morning I find myself waking early with a friend’s noble quest echoing through my mind: transport 1kg of Ozone Coffee “Brothers Blend” to Berlin by Wednesday. So I grab my shiny fast bike, join the rush hour palleton, and race towards the Thames.
Surrounded by ancient buildings, busses, and suits, I enter a cafe that has the absolute soul and character of the cafes of home; really comfortable tidy layout in a dream space, which is ideal to just relax and catch up with mates over coffee. “Kia ora” - I’m warmly greeted in Te Reo Māori, and I feel a wave of comforting nostalgia wash over me.
Ozone has a huge rep in Aotearoa (and has been previously featured in The Magic Roast’s The Perfect Day out in Auckland, and also hosts the NZ Aeropress Championships), and it is beyond exciting seeing this hugely talented coffee roaster showing the big city how coffee should be enjoyed.
My coffee (oat flat white) was delicious. Bitterness was showing in a delightful way, and the milk was just spot on. Food options available consist of a few pastries or cakes, a couple of toasted cheesy sandwich options (£6.50), or a ham and cheese croissant (£4).
Spending the morning slowing down and connecting with my coffee-culture love from Aotearoa is well worth the 45 minute cycle (round trip), and I will definitely be returning here for future morning sessions.
Got a Good Shout?
Got a great cafe or coffee experience that TMR should check out? Let us know!
It doesn’t matter where it is - London, Brussels, Tokyo (still waiting Matty T…), Tauranga or Wellington. If there’s something worth checking out, we’ll be there.
Thanks to Matt for another insight into the London coffee scene.
