A new treat from Chilled Out Coffee Roasters
Choosing what coffee gear to take on a holiday is one of life’s biggest headaches. The AeroPress is so portable but you need a grinder. The plastic V60 is amazing but you have to take a gooseneck kettle. Instant is okay but sometimes you need more.
Fret no longer. Chilled Out Coffee Roasters are now selling single dose coffee filter that you brew right into your cup. Amazing.
Not only are these things portable and easy to use (despite my best efforts - see below), they taste absolutely amazing.
Mine came with the Wahana Bondowoso - an anaerobic natural from East Java, it was the biz. Amazing flavour, with a light and delicate body. Such a great coffee from such a small package.
Want to get your mitts on some? Chuck Chilled Out Coffee a DM on their Instagram and get your hands these stat.

Kiwis on the big stage at the World Coffee Championships
Last week, Hanna Teramoto and Ewan Kim represented New Zealand at the World Coffee Championships in Athens.
Hanna competed in the World Barista Championships.
Hanna had to make an espresso drink, a milky drink, and then a signature drink that used coffee as an ingredient. All the while explaining what she was doing for the judges.
It’s such a massive task and Hanna smashed it out of the park.
You can check out Hanna’s performance on Youtube - it’s one worth checking out.
Ewan Kim was our rep in the Cup Tasting champs.
Cup Tasting is an insane competition where people have to distinguish the tastes between different coffees, trying to find the odd one out.
Cup Tasters are next level. They have such a developed mastery of their senses that I just cannot comprehend. I can’t tell the differences between Coke and Pepsi!
These competitors are taste gods.
Hanna and Ewan did us proud, putting it all on the line for glory. Hanna exited in the first round and Ewan made it through to the quarter finals.
Even getting to the worlds is a massive achievement. Give Hanna and Ewan a round of applause!
Legends.
Common Good Coffee impact report
Common Good Coffee are Christchurch based coffee roasters, who aren’t in it for profit. Their kaupapa is to raise money to neighbourhoods where it’s really needed.
Here’s what they say about their purpose:
“Through our partners at Joyya, we're starting with four neighbourhoods in India where extreme poverty, human trafficking, and the constant degradation of people and places means good isn’t as common as it should be.”
Common Good Coffee have just released their latest impact report. Since they launched, they have raised over $200,000 for Joyya. If you’ve had one of their coffee’s, you’ve contributed too.
One of the projects that this money has gone towards is a water ATM. An ATM machine that dispenses free, clean, filtered drinking water in the town of Dhulian.
It’s super easy to be cynical about these things, but Common Good Coffee are the real deal. They are genuine, actually passionate about their kaupapa, and have good coffee to boot.
The Drumming Barista interviewed Paul from Common Good Coffee on his podcast. It’s worth a listen.
You’re a strong, confident coffee drinker
