The FIFA Women’s World Cup is over, following Spain’s massive victory on Sunday night.
There will be a football shaped hole in my heart which I’ll have to replace with some banging coffee. Like this Costa Rican which was roasted in Taiwan by Sit Down Plz coffee roasting. It absolutely blew my socks off - and I wasn’t even wearing socks at the time.
Read more about it over on my Instagram.
But now, YOU OUGHTA KNOW!

BREAKING NEWS: AeroPress Champs is 7 October
That’s right folks! The New Zealand AeroPress Champs, hosted by Atomic Coffee Roasters, will be held in Auckland on Saturday 7 October.
Atomic are in the process of creating a dedicated social media page, which will be the home of all the info.
The tickets will be on sale in “a couple of weeks” according to their spokesperson.
This will no doubt be a massive event, one worth getting to if you can.
Keep an eye on Atomic’s Instagram page for more info!
Allbrews winner is Oisin of Frank’s Coffee
The winner of the very first Allbrews late night coffee throwdown was Oisin of Frank’s Coffee. He took on Wietze from Peoples Coffee in the final, and won with an AeroPress.
Frank’s Coffee is the home of champions, with Oisin joining Kawashima Honoka (2023 NZ Barista Champion).
The Allbrews throwdown was a fantastic event, with great organisers, competitors who were so generous with their time and expertise, and a crowd who were there for the good times.
The Magic Roast is doing a full review and recap of Allbrews on Thursday. Come back then for more!
Spain win the FIFA Women’s World Cup
Quick highs and lows - let’s hit it.
HIGH: Spain win the World Cup 1-nil, after a blistering goal from Olga Carmona.
LOW: Olga’s dad died, and she wasn’t informed until after the game.
HIGH: The FWWC broke more records this week, with the more than 11.15 million people watching the semi-final between the Matildas and the Lionesses live on TV (that’s 9/10 Australians who were watching tv at that time), and over 950k people streamed it live online, making it the most watched event in Australian history. [FINAL game numbers are TBC].
LOW: Men are disgusting and need to get in the bin, after the Spanish Football president kissed Spanish forward Jenni Hermoso ON THE LIPS (and he didn’t think it was weird… - she did though).
HIGH: Football is amazing and more people should football because it’s the beautiful game.
It’s been such an amazing event. Breaking glass ceilings, smashing records and inspiring a whole new generation of kids to get into football.
The future is bright for football in New Zealand. Let’s hope we can make the most of it!
