Nau mai hoki mai and welcome back to You Oughta Know for another week.

The New Zealand AeroPress Champs are this Saturday!
The big day is nearly on us, with the NZAC hitting Auckland this Saturday (one of sixteen happening around the world this month!).
There’s 27 competitors taking on the challenge of making the best cup. The prize is a trip to the World AeroPress Champs in Melbourne!
Get down to Atomic Coffee Roasters on New North Road if you can. It’s free for spectators and you’ll be treated to mad music, spot prizes, and of course great coffee competition!
Doors open at 4:30pm, with the first heat kicking off at 5:00pm.
Flight Coffee adds to their canned coffee offering
Wellington’s Flight Coffee are looking to take summer by the cans, with yet another canned coffee product!
The newest entry to their cold coffee catalogue is their ‘Straight Up Cold Brew’ - just coffee and water, they say. In a can, they say.
Straight Up joins the Oat Milk Strawberry Mocha, Oat Milk Chai Latte, Oat Milk Flat White and the OG - the Sparkling Cold Brew.
The global RTD coffee market is expected to reach US $42.36 BILLION by 2023, so it makes sense that Flight Coffee is going HAM.
I’ve ordered them all and I’ll be trying each one to see which flavour reigns supreme.
Legends.
Do what The Drumming Barista and others have done, and support The Magic Roast!
It’s easy to do, and it keeps The Magic Roast in coffee.
Coffee variety chat - Pink Bourbon isn’t a Bourbon at all
If you have purchased specialty coffee in New Zealand, like this one from Franks, you’ve probably enjoyed a Pink Bourbon variety along the way.
Pink Bourbon coffee is known for being delicious, floral and delicate.
Science has caught up with taste and some smart cookies have done the research. DNA analysis shows that the Pink Bourbon isn’t a cross of the Red and Yellow Bourbon varieties, as once was thought. But actually a totally different coffee plant, from Ethiopia. That might explain why it reminds people more of a Yirgacheffe than a Colombian.
